I''m going to start towing a camper several times a year and wanted a quality gear oil in the diff and new transmission fluid. After much research I decided on Amsoil and have piece of mind that it will protect just fine.

I have been using the Synthetic 80W-90W Gear Lube in the Transmission and Final Drive unit of my 2001 BMW R1150GS motorcycle or years. It never breaks down between changes even though I ride in 1st and 2nd gear for hours on Utah desert roads for hours at a time. shifting is always silky smooth. I highly recommend Amsoil Synthetic Gear Lube wherever the motorcycle specs call for Gear Lube. If your Transmission also houses a "wet clutch" be sure to research the correct Amsoil product to use with a "wet clutch" as there is a special requirement to insure that "wet clutches" won't slip.
We go on two week trips every year on which we average about 5,000 miles and I have had not problems :-)

It's a gear oil... I just poured it in about a week ago. Can't really say anything yet. I suppose it does what it should. I actually overfilled the rear differential because my truck was on the hill when I changed the oil, so I wanted to make it right and parked on the leveled surface today and unscrewed the fill plug. About 6 oz of oil came out. I noticed its color and translucency changed after a week of driving. It was noticeably darker. About 150 miles. But to me it means that synthetic stuff cleans the dirt and residue that was left there from my old conventional oil. I might need to do another differential change shortly then I expected. But after that second change - I would leave it alone for a loooong time....
